Harnaaz began participating in beauty pageants since the time she was 17 and went on to represent India in the 70th Miss Universe 2021, held in Israel, and won the coveted crown.
She clinched the title by beating contestants from 79 countries, Miss Paraguay Nadia Ferreira being the first runner up and Miss South Africa Lalela Mswane being the second runner up.
Harnaaz, who also won the LIVA Miss Diva Universe 2021 title, considers her mother her hero and draws inspiration from her for setting an example of breaking generations of patriarchy by becoming a successful gynaecologist.
Harnaaz Dazzled in Traditional Lehenga in The National Costume Round
She won the hearts of the judges in the National Costume round. She sizzled in Indian traditional embellished lehenga choli in pink and golden. She carried a conventional wedding parasol (created by Reza Shariffi) as a tribute to her country.
She teamed ethnic jewellery, including a choker, matha patti, danglers, bangles and a statement ring to complete her royal look. About her lehenga, which was designed by Abhinav Mishra, Miss Universe said that it showcases the Indian Queen who is strong yet delicate.

“What advice would you give to young women watching on how to deal with the pressure they face today?” This is the question the diva was asked in the final question and answer round.
She confidentially said, “The biggest pressure the youth of today is facing is to believe in themselves, to know that you are unique and that's what makes you beautiful. Stop comparing yourselves with others and let's talk about more important things that (are) happening worldwide. I think this is what you need to understand. Come out, speak for yourself because you are the leader of your life, you are the voice of your own. I believed in myself and that's why I am standing here today. Thank you.”
