Your kids would love these yummylicious cupcakes as much as you would enjoy baking them. This easy cupcake recipe is for beginners. You can bake them in pan/kadhai, cooker or oven and make any occasion special.

Decorating these cupcakes as Christmas Trees is a child's play. Yes, literally! Even your children can help you in the making of these stunning Xmas trees.


Christmas Cupcakes Recipe

Let's get started with this simple cupcake recipe that you can easily make at home with your favourite essence.


Ingredients

  • All-Purpose Flour/ maida: 1+1/2 Cup
  • Eggs: 2
  • Baking Powder: 1 + 3/4
  • Milk: 1/2 Cup
  • Sugar (powdered): 1 Cup
  • Oil: 1/2 cup (any refined oil)
  • Vanilla/Pineapple Essence: 1/2 tsp (optional)
  • Yogurt: 1 Tbsp (optional)

Instructions To Bake Cupcakes at Home

  • For this vanilla cupcake recipe, you can use a kadhai/pan, cooker or an oven/microwave.
  • You can use an old kadhai/pan which is a little deep. We need to pre-heat it. Keep a stand in it and on top of it, keep a plate. Cover it with the lid. Use a rolled tissue paper to close the hole in the lid. Pre-heat the kadhai for 5-7 minutes on low-medium flame.
  • If using an oven/microwave, you need to pre-heat it at 180°C. Don't forget to set the microwave on convection mode.
  • In a bowl, sift flour. Next, add baking powder. Mix the ingredients well. Keep this bowl aside.

  • In a separate bowl take 2 eggs. Ensure eggs are at the room temperature.
  • Beat them using an electric beater or a whisker. Beat till it's fluffy.
  • Add powdered sugar. Don't add it directly, sift it. Mix well and beat it till fluffy and lighter in colour.
  • At this point, add oil. You can use any refined/vegetable oil.
  • Add the essence of your choice. You can use vanilla, pineapple or any other as per your liking. The essence is optional.
  • Divide the flour into four parts. Add one part at a time. As you keep adding the flour, beat it perfectly.
  • Add milk in it now. Ensure it is at the room temperature. Mix well.
  • Add yoghurt at room temperature. Yoghurt is optional but it helps in making your cupcakes moist.
  • Beat the mixture to achieve the perfect consistency.
  • Now the cupcakes batter is ready.
  • You can use aluminium/ silicone cupcake moulds. Or you can use your small steel bowls if you don't have moulds.
  • Put paper liners in each mould and brush oil. You can do without the liners. Just grease the moulds with oil, if you don't have liners.
  • Fill the mould with batter. You can use an ice-cream scoop or just any spoon for this. Make sure you fill the moulds only 3/4th, leaving 1/4th space empty to let the sponge rise properly.
  • Tap the moulds after filling the batter to remove any air bubbles and flatten the surface.

  • Keep the moulds in the pre-heated pan/ kadhai for 30-40 mins on low flame. Time will depend on your gas flame.
  • If using Oven/Microwave keep the moulds in the pre-heated oven at 350 F/180°C for 20 mins or till brownish.
  • Use toothpick/ skewer to check if the cupcakes are done. If it comes out clean, turn off the gas at this point.
  • Let them cool and then de-mould the cupcakes.

So, our yummy cupcakes are ready and you can eat them right away! Or you can decorate them to make them more drool-worthy!


How to Make Christmas Tree Cupcakes at Home

Let's make drool-worthy Christmas Trees!


Ingredients

  • Whipping cream
  • Powdered sugar: 1 Tbsp (as per taste)
  • Green food colour: few drops
  • Ice-cream cone
  • Chocolate cone
  • For decoration
  • Silver balls
  • Sprinkles
  • Gems/ M&M


Instructions

  • Take whipping cream in a bowl.

  • Tip: Keep the empty bowl in the refrigerator for 20-30 minutes before you take out the cream in it.
  • Using the electric beater, start beating the whipping cream for 5-7 mins at medium speed.
  • Tip: Keep some ice cubes below the bowl in a plate to keep it chilled.
  • Once you achieve soft peaks, start beating at the high speed.
  • You can add one tbsp powdered sugar (or as per your taste) if it's not already sweetened. Beat till you achieve stiff peaks.
  • Now the frosting is ready. Fill the frosting in a Piping bag.
  • Pipe out some frosting to cover the top of the cupcakes. Or use a spatula to apply a thin or thick layer of cream on top of cupcakes.
  • Take some whipped cream in a bowl. Add a few drops of green food colour. Mix well.

Instructions

  • Take an ice-cream cone. Keep it on top of the cupcake.

  • Apply frosting on the cone using a spatula.
  • Use a small star nozzle in a piping bag. Fill it with the green frosting to create the Christmas Tree.
  • Pipe out the cream, starting at the bottom to reaching the top whilst creating the Christmas tree shape. 
  • Keeping your hand at 90 degrees to the cone, pipe out the cream and pull it off. And then repeat the same till you cover the complete cone.
  • Decorate the tree using silver balls and M&M.

Let's make another style of Xmas Tree!


  • Using 1M or 2D nozzle, create a swirl in the shape of the Xmas Tree.
  • Starting at the centre, make a circle and with a swirl effect, making a smaller circle as your swirl and reach the top. As you reach the top, lift and pull away.
  • Sift some icing sugar to give a snow effect.
  • Decorate with sprinkles and M&M.
