Golden Globe Awards, Best Netflix Movies, Must Watch Hollywood Movies

The world was waiting with bated breath for the 82nd annual Golden Globe Awards. The star studded ceremony was aired live from the Beverly Hilton Hotel (Los Angeles) on CBS. The awards were announced in 27 categories across film and television. Movies that clinched the Golden Globes include Emilia Perez, The Brutalist, Shogun, Hack and Baby Reindeer.


And The Award Goes To...


Emilia Perez: Best Motion Picture – Musical/Comedy


Jacques Audiard's “Emilia Perez” (France) won four awards in musical or comedy category, received ten nominations. The Netflix crime musical clinched the best motion picture – musical or comedy along with the best non English language film. Zoe Saldana won the best supporting actress Golden Globe award, while the song "El Mal" from the movie got the best original song award. This makes it one of the best Netflix movies to watch.

The Brutalist: Best Motion Picture – Drama


With seven nominations, The Brutalist was awarded the best motion picture – drama. Lead star Adrien Brody bagged the best actor in a drama and the best director award went to Brady Corbet. The film revolves around a Hungarian Jewish architect who is a Holocaust survivor. This makes it one of the must watch Hollywood movies.

Flow: Best Motion Picture – Animated


The Latvian adventure “Flow” was named the best motion picture in the animated category. It beat out The Wild Robot and Inside Out 2. It is one of the must watch Hollywood movies.

Shogun: Best Television Series – Drama


The historical epic Shogun won the best television series in the drama category. Hiroyuki Sanada took home the globe for lead male actor and Anna Sawai clinched the award for  lead female actor. Tadanobu Asano won the supporting male actor.

Fernanda Torres: Best Female Actor – Drama


Brazilian actor Fernanda Torres clinched the best female actor in the drama category for her outstanding performance in the 70s drama “I'm Still Here”. She beat out Angelina Jolie, Nicole Kidman and Kate Winslet.

Demi Moore: Best Female Actor – Musical/Comedy


Demi Moore took home the best female actor award in the musical or comedy category for “The Substance”. She grabbed the award beating out Mikey Madison and Cynthia Erivo. She shared her story of suffering from low confidence after being told she was “just a popcorn actress”.

Sebastian Stan: Best Male Actor – Musical/Comedy


Sebastian Stan took home the best male actor globe for “A Different Man” in musical or comedy category. However, he lost out on the award for male actor in the drama category.

Jodie Foster: Best Female Actor – Limited Series


Jodie Foster took home the Best Female Actor award in a limited series for True Detective: Night Country. She beat out Kate Winslet and Cate Blanchett and clinched her fifth Golden Globe.

Baby Reindeer: Netflix Hit Won Two Awards


The breakout Netflix hit “Baby Reindeer” won the globe for limited series. Jessica Gunning clinched the supporting female actor. Add it to your best Netflix movies or series bucket list.

All We Imagine As Light: Missed The Globe


Payal Kapadia's “All We Imagine As Light” missed the Globe, though it received two nominations. It lost to the Spanish drama 'Emilia Perez' in the Best Non English language motion picture. The other nominations include Vermiglio, The Girl with the Needle, I'm Still Here and The Seed of the Sacred Fig.

Kapadia also missed the Best Director award and lost it to 'The Brutalist' director Brady Corbet. Other directors who lost the award include Jacques Audiard (Emilia Perez), Edward Berger (Conclave) and Coralie Fargeat (The Substance).

The gala event was hosted by the stand up comedian Nikki Glaser, the first solo female host in the Golden Globes's history.
